    Thomas Edison famously said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

    This idea is also illustrated in the following quote by Michael Jordan:

    “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.”

  2. Question of Taste in Photography

    What makes a great photograph?

    A simple answer - one provokes strong emotional reactions from its viewers.

    Reactions can be positive or negative. It's really a question of taste if you like the photo or hate it. Taste is a personal preference or liking. I dislike creative people who don't have strong feelings regarding taste. Have you ever asked someone what they think of your photographs, only to have them answer, “Oh, they are nice.”?

    Shocking back cover advertisement in Time OUT Beijing, February 2010 issue

    TimeOUT, my favorite magazine in Beijing gives me a big shock with its February issue. Usually, I give it high scores for providing us foreigners with interesting happenings around town. Kudos to the editorial team which is led by a Singaporean editor-in-editor, Kenneth Tan.
